Andrea E. Berardi, Assistant Professor

(CV) (Google Scholar)

Andrea joined the Department of Biology at JMU in 2024. She is interested in studying the genetics of floral color, floral scent, plant-pollinator interactions, reproductive isolation and speciation.

Students

Grace Sebestyen, undergraduate researcher
Grace is a junior majoring in Biology. She is interested in plant-pollinator interactions.

Ayana Khan, undergraduate researcher
Ayana is a junior majoring in Biology and is working on PCR of floral color genes in Silene.  Ayana gets her artistic inspiration from nature and taps into it through journaling, scrapbooking, and watercolor painting. She loves music, working out, traveling, and her pet cat.

Bella Caldwell, undergraduate researcher
Bella is a sophomore majoring in Biology. She is interested in pollen-pistil interactions.

Mia Hensgen, undergraduate researcher
Mia is a junior majoring in Biology. Her interests center around plant biology, with a strong curiosity about how molecular biology and chemistry influence biological processes at smaller scales.

Sebastian Grinberg, high school researcher
Sebastian joins us from Turner Ashby High School with an interest in computational approaches in plant biology.
